Benefits of Upper Air UV

For indoor animal care environments, including spaces with no furnace or HVAC ventilation system in place, Aerapy Animal Health’s upper air (also known as upper room) UV systems offer immediate airflow, circulation, and disinfection.

Veterinary hospitals and clinics, boarding facilities, animal shelters, grooming salons, and more are exposed to different animals and people each day. They can carry with them germs, bacteria, allergens, mold, and other pollutants that can then easily spread throughout the air and surfaces of your facility, circulating infectious pathogens repeatedly, elevating the risk of an outbreak.

Upper air UV systems help protect animal care environments.

Constant exposure of UV-C germicidal energy with moderate air circulation will help to effectively sanitize pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and molds in the air stream. For those with HVAC air cleaning in place, you’re already ahead of the game. But, because it can take hours for air to circulate throughout a building, for those who need immediate air cleaning in more specific areas like waiting rooms, surgical areas, treatment areas, quarantined areas, and kennels, our upper air UV systems offer a targeted solution.

High-level UV disinfection in high-risk areas.

Aerapy Animal Health’s upper air systems offer targeted, high-level UV disinfection in high-risk areas to reduce pathogens in the airstream that more specifically impact animal care facilities and, in combination with normal surface cleaning procedures, can help further reduce the surface pathogen load.

Our upper air UV system, the Zone360, was used in a three-year field study in the kitten nursery of an animal shelter. Study results showed a remarkable 87.1% reduction in upper respiratory infections (URIs) and is published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association.

“Research indicates that an appropriately designed and maintained upper-room UVGI system may kill or inactivate airborne TB bacteria and increase the protection afforded to healthcare workers while maintaining a safe level of UVGI in the occupied lower portion of the room.”
